Young guns are the backbone of every country, they are the ones who, in the future, will determine the course of action of one’s country and nation. Countries, NGOs, and enterprises around the world are spending millions on the education of their youth. In Pakistan too, a social enterprise named as Peshawar 2.0, led by youth, is trying to rebuild the capital city of KPK, Peshawar, through bringing creativity in the field of technology, arts, and design and by inculcating required knowledge into the youth.
The company says, “We believe entrepreneurship is an empowering medium to translate creativity and talent of the youth into action that has social and economic impact”.
The enterprise has recently announced its 3rd edition of Makerthon. The Makerthon 2017 is specially designed for inculcating the knowledge and inspiring the young ones to become good entrepreneurs, designers, techies, and artists in the future. The event will be held between 7th – 12th August 2017 at Peshawar 2.0’s basecamp, which is located at First Floor, Arbab Tower, Nasir Bagh Road, Peshawar. This project is Peshawar 2.0’s education initiative known as The Makers League. The league comprises of 300 dedicated people, who are trying to change the face of Peshawar city by creating start-ups in the areas of AI and technology.
The whole event is almost six weeks long will focus on areas of Artificial Intelligence, Art+Design, Robotics, Biotech, Film-making Hardware, Fintech. The enterprise has also planned fun activities and games for the young students and also lots of prizes and goodies. The company’s co-founder Mr. Bilal has firm believe that this event will change the lives of young ones and be of help to them at choosing the best career path.
Makerthon only allows students who are currently studying in grades 5th to 11th to apply for the camp. Twenty students from across the region will be able to attend the camp, learning from top 5 leading speakers from across the country. This would definitely be an amazing opportunity for young kids to learn how to bring innovation and creativity to their work.
Moreover, the lead of this project Mr. Khushal said that it is now time to teach our kids better and differently.
He said, “If we’re going to teach these kids the same way as we taught yesterday, we’ll only be burying our versions of Steve Jobs and Elon Musk”.
The enterprise is also planning to install a library and lecture hall at the basecamp.
