Apple’s Jet Black iPhone 7 and the Jet Black iPhone 7 Plus are undoubtedly the best-looking smartphones ever but only until they are removed from the box. Just moments after unboxing, their jet black finish begins to scratch and attracts dust and grease.
The sleek mirror finish of Jet Black iPhone 7 is its most attractive feature but Apple didn’t disclose a major caveat in its making until after the sale had begun. The disclaimer reads,
“The high-gloss finish of the jet black iPhone 7 is achieved through a precision nine-step anodization and polishing process. Its surface is equally as hard as other anodized Apple products; however, its high shine may show fine micro-abrasions with use. If you are concerned about this, we suggest you use one of the many cases available to protect your iPhone.”
This means that the fine glossy surface is prone to scratching and will not survive without a phone case. BGR showed a number of photos of Jet Black iPhone 7 after two or three months of use. Several people shared the pictures of their iPhone 7 on Reddit and almost all of them had scratches and marks on them. Many users also said that they do not want to use a phone case. Even the results with phone cases looked pretty much the same.
iPhone 7 was released last year with color shades such as Black, Jet Black, Silver, Gold and Rose Gold. The iPhones with shades other than Jet Black do not scratch like this. Some of the pictures shared are given below.
