Pak-China Chamber emphasizes involvement of technology and formation of IT parks in Pakistan

Pak-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) has stressed the importance of technology and for that it plans on partnering with international technology leaders, providing opportunities to young startups and establishing IT parks in Pakistan

PCJCCI President Wang Zihai has said that Pakistan must produce research-backed competitive products in the market and in order to do that, Pakistan should embrace Chinese model of indulging academics and technocrats in production facilities.

PCJCCI met with five-member Chinese delegation from Jinan University. Wang also said that Pakistan’s image is needed to be improved internationally so that more technology leaders should visit and invest in Pakistan’s IT industry and startups. China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will help Pakistan achieve economic goals.

He also informed the delegation about the plans to establish software technology parks in Pakistan which is needed to wane the digital divide between China and Pakistan. He also said that Chinese universities and technology leaders can help Pakistan in this regard.

Zhang Shoufeng, Head of the delegation, said that the purpose of their visit was to extend bilateral relations with Pakistan beyond manufacturing to the knowledge sharing. He proposed that in order to achieve the desired objectives in innovation and technology, the Government of Pakistan should focus on improving the quality of research being conducted in the universities by providing them advanced resources and expanding their ambit.

It was jointly agreed that fresh graduates and researchers should be allowed to participate in adding value to the products being manufactured in Pakistan.
