Prime Minister Imran Khan launched the online visa system for foreign visitors all across the world earlier this year in March. The online system developed by the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has received an overwhelming response from people all across the globe and within the first week of its deployment, Nadra received 739 applications.
According to data released by Nadra, around 2,250 individuals from across the globe have so far applied online to get Pakistan’s visa. Nadra has also become the custodian of the world’s largest singular citizen database, with citizen data of approximately 119.26 million Pakistanis.
Moreover, from May 6 to May 12, NADRA has processed and registered around 277,000 registrants into its database, out of which almost 37,000 received their identity document free of cost. These identity documents were of category types such as Computerized or Smart National Identity Cards (CNIC/SNIC), Family and Child Registration and Pakistan Origin Card (POC).
In the recent statistical report, Nadra has also revealed that it has established an online web-based application system known as Pak-Identity that has helped 317,307 applicants to process their ID cards from the comfort of their homes and offices.
Meanwhile, the new e-visa scheme program by Nadra will facilitate visitors from 175 countries all across the world. Under this new visa policy, the Pakistani govt aims to grant three-month e-visas to foreigners across the globe within a processing time of 7-10 working days. Amid the current economic crisis, the country is facing these days, the new visa regime will be helpful in making Pakistan more accessible for investors across the globe.
