Mobile phone imports in Pakistan has witnessed a decline of 6.86% in the first 10 months (July-April) of 2018 to 2019. These figures were revealed by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), which shows the cellular import remained at $631.997 million compared to $678.575 million during the same time span last year.
The smartphones import this year in April, stood at $74.813 million, which is 0.95% less as compared to the import rate last year in April 2018, which stood at $75.529 million. Similarly, the imports figure saw a decline of 5.36% last month in April, when compared to $79.049 million in March 2019.

Meanwhile, other telecom apparatus saw a downgrade of about 10.69% in (July-April) of 2018-19, and they stood at $524.921 compared to the $587.768 million during the same period of last year. But after comparing the imports figures between March 2019 and April 2019, the telecom apparatus marked a growth of 3.28% in April, which was $50.317 million compared to $48.719 million in March 2019.
Overall, the telecom imports status declined as well, which is 8.64% less during July-April (2018-19) when compared with the time period last year. Total imports were registered at $1.156 billion which is less as compared to $1.266 billion in July-April (2017-18), while recording a 2.06% negative growth in April 2019. And between March and April, this figure stood at $125.130 million in April 2019 less than $127.768 million during March 2019.

Comparing these results with the imports figure from 2017-18, the mobile phone imports saw a growth of 19.44% in the fiscal year 2017-18, which grew from $847.654 million to $709.690 million when compared with the results during the same time period of 2016-17. Overall telecom imports of 2017-18 were registered at $1.534 billion, as compared to $1.351 billion in 2016-17.
