Pakistani Version ‘Youtubes’ Launched In The Country

An upcoming startup has launched a Pakistani video portal, youtubes.pk which is significantly gaining popularity in the country. It seems the online video sharing website has been developed locally to provide an alternate video portal in addition to Dailymotion and tune.pk

Youtubes.pk has somewhat similar interface to the Google Youtube with seven categories including Islamic videos, sports, technology, health and fitness, gaming, comedy, science/technology and new/politics. The website team is strongly taking action against anti-Islamic videos and urges users to report them via a message posted right at the top of the home page.

The video streaming is flawless, however, some of the features are not yet fully developed. The posting dates on the videos are unrealistic and users who have posted the videos seem fake too.

This is similar to the situation when a Pakistani version Facebook became popular a few years ago after the original Facebook was blocked in Pakistan. The website is gaining popularity more due to its name, which we must say, is an intelligent marketing strategy.

It has been almost two years since Google Youtube has been blocked in Pakistan. The ban, which started out as protest against blasphemous video in 2012, has somehow turned into an elongated propaganda to cut access to the renowned video portal in the country. It is about time to lift ban from Youtube in Pakistan.
