Pakistani teacher Ahmed Saya wins Cambridge University’s “Dedicated Teacher Award 2019”

Pakistani teacher, Ahmed Saya, an Accounting teacher from Karachi has won Cambridge University’s “Dedicated Teacher Awards 2019”.

As per the Cambridge University Press website, Saya was among the six finalists who were shortlisted by a panel of education experts for the final list of “Dedicated Teacher Award 2019” by world-renowned Cambridge University’s publishing business, the Cambridge University Press. Cambridge University also tweeted about the announcement through their twitter panel, the tweet said:

“We are pleased to announce the winner of the 2019 Dedicated Teacher Award goes to… Ahmed Saya from Cordoba School for A Level in Pakistan. Well done to Ahmed and all our finalists!”

The winner was selected through an online poll which was conducted by the press where students from all over the world voted for the “World’s Most Dedicated Teacher”.

Other contestants in this competition included Abhinandan Bhattacharya from Oshiwara, India, Anthony Chelliah from Sri Lanka, Australia’s Candice Green Australia, Jimrey Dapin from Philippines and Malaysia’s Sharon Kong Foong. It should also be mentioned that these six finalists have won multiple prizes as well including promotion from Cambridge University Press for themselves and their school.

According to Cambridge’s website, students from all over the globe were invited to send their nominations for teachers whom they considered to be the most dedicated in their respective fields. The nomination took place in during October-December 2018.

“Despite the amazing job that teachers do every day, there are surprisingly few opportunities to say thank you. From October-December 2018, we invited students, teachers or anyone with an inspiring teacher story to share it with us so we could say thank you together. This year, we’ll be showcasing amazing teachers and expressing our appreciation inside our new books.”

Following this achievement, Ahmed Saya has won a trip to Cambridge UK along with CPD (Continuing Professional Development) opportunities for his school.
