Pakistani Student to be presented Queen Young Leaders Award

Syed Faizan Hussain, a Pakistani student has been selected to receive esteemed Queen’s Young Leaders Award for his technological contribution to health problems.

The 22 year old from Karachi has been chosen among 60 others in contribution to global issues like education, mental health, gender equality and climate change. Syed Faizan Hussain said,

“I am delighted to have received this Award and look forward to expanding my leadership skills and engaging with people from various fields who will be sharing their ideas and experiences.”

Syed Faizan has developed many startups like Edu Aid which translates sign language into spoken language, and OneHealth, a disease surveillance and tracking system which notifies health institutions about epidemic outbreaks. He also volunteered in Saylani Welfare Trust where he taught hundreds of underprivileged children. He is now planning to develop Venture Dart, a tech consultant and outsourcing company for entrepreneurs and small businesses.

Dr Astrid Bonfield, Chief Executive of The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust said,

The Queen’s Young Leaders Award is designed to inspire and nurture the talent of exceptional young people from all over the Commonwealth so that they can create and lead others towards securing positive changes in communities. The work being undertaken by the latest cohort of Queen’s Young Leaders is addressing some of the most crucial issues facing the Commonwealth today. We cannot wait to see how their impressive endeavors grow and develop over the course of the year to come and beyond.”

Queen’s Young Leaders program supports and awards exceptional young people from across the Commonwealth who make great contributions to the community. Winners of this prestigious Award receive a package of training, mentoring and networking which also includes a one-week residential program in UK during which they will collect their Award from Her Majesty The Queen. With this support, Award winners will be expected to continue and develop the amazing work they are already doing in their communities. Two Pakistani students were awarded in 2014.

The award will be presented next year.
