Google for Entrepreneurs has announced its first Demo Day for Asia, scheduled to take place on September 20th in Shanghai, China. This year, Google’s mission to bring together top startups to highlight innovation and drive investment has now arrived in Asia as well.
The Demo Day will enable top Asian startups to pitch on a global platform and build relationships with investors. In an intimate event, Google will pool together accredited and active investors who will pursue potential collaborations with the startups handpicked by Google for the Demo Day.
Google team will shortlist startups based on their team’s strength, execution of their idea, traction of customers and their growth potential to scale. Startups cannot only apply themselves but can also be nominated by located partners within the network of Google for Entrepreneurs. Currently, The Nest I/O is a partner within this network from Pakistan.
To qualify for Google Demo Day, startups should be legally incorporated and headquartered in Asia. They should have demonstrated traction through fundraising, revenue generation, and customer growth. Moreover, these startups should have raised $50,000 and must be seeking to actively raise $1 million to $5 million within six months of Demo Day.
Since its inception, startups participating in Demo Days has raised over $273 million and 11 of them have been acquired. In the previous events, over 100 unique VC firms have participated. In 2017 only, the participating startups raised up to $18 million.
