Ever since the introduction of Black Friday Shopping festival in Pakistan by Daraz, every year, when we are nearing the sales day, there is a constant discussion on how the name ‘Black Friday’ is contrary to the religious values of the country and how the ecommerce stores and retailers should use creativity to come up with a better name.

This year again, the ecommerce stores started huge promotions using the same label of ‘Black Friday’ while the netizens were leaving negative remarks on how insensitive the campaign name is.
But yesterday, came as a surprise to many users when Daraz, the biggest ecommerce store in Pakistan, announced its Black Friday Sale renamed as ‘Big Friday Sale’. On the other hand, Yayvo, another leading ecommerce venture announced that they are celebrating ‘White Friday’.

This is good that the feedback from the buyers is taken seriously and almost 90% of the stores are now celebrating big sale day today but the name is a variation of Friday.
Many netizens took to Twitter to share their views on Friday using the hashtag #BlessedFriday.
Right now there is mixed feedback on the quality of sales. Some people were able to figure deals with actual discounts while the others believe that the prices were inflated to bring them down on sales day. Hence there is no genuine discount.
The sales are expected to end on Sunday. A few stores will be celebrating CyberMonday as well. We will share some numbers, insights, and feedback on how the sale went on Monday.
