Pakistan will introduce 5G services next year, Minister of IT

Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, claimed on Tuesday that Pakistan is planning to introduce 5G telecom services within the next year.

While talking about this topic, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui expressed hope that introduction of these services will be able to bring in more foreign investment in Pakistan.

“We need to introduce more innovative services in mobile broadband not only to facilitate consumers but also to attract foreign investment and meet modern-day requirements. The world is changing rapidly and to compete with other nations we need to adopt new technologies.”

Siddiqui also clarified about the direction of new government’s policies by assuring that he will continue all the good initiatives taken by the previous government while also addressing any shortcomings that come along the way.

This is not the first time that Pakistan has claimed of being one of the first countries in the world to test 5G services. Previous Minister for IT and Telecommunication, Anusha Reman, was also very vocal about the issue and claimed on many occasions that Pakistan will be among the first countries to test and launch 5G services.
