Facebook has since long tackled the menace of fake profiles. The current signup procedures allow anybody to open their profiles through email address or the telephone numbers. So, the users who have made multiple email accounts have the possibility to open more than one Facebook profile. Facebook has been planning to kill this practice in order to cultivate a fair environment for all the users. The fake profiles have often been found involved in forging personal identities and other cyber related crimes.

Facebook currently has many active algorithms that keep detecting abnormal behaviors to point out the fake profiles. Abnormal patterns like repeated posting of one thing or a sudden increase in messaging activity are observed and used to identify the fake behaviors like as caused by bots.
