“Pakistan Wants Strong Business Ties With Zimbabwe”; Naveed Qamar

Talking to the High Commissioner of Zimbabwe, Syed Naveed Qamar expressed desire to increase collaboration in the corporate sectors

Federal Minister for Commerce and Investments Syed Naveed Qamar had a meeting with the Ambassador of Zimbabwe, Lt Gen (Retd) Martin Chedondo. The two had a long meeting and discussion about the strong economic future of both Zimbabwe and Pakistan.

Minister Naveed Qamar in the meeting expressed Pakistan’s desire to form “strong business ties with Zimbabwe to enhance trade, connectivity and mutually beneficial partnership”. Cooperation in the corporate sector was also stressed with emphasis on agriculture, pharmaceutical and machinery. Bilateral trade between the two countries was also a topic of discussion.

The Minister for Commerce and Investments said that as a member of the South African Development Community (SADC), Zimbabwe could play a vital role in the Pakistan-Africa Trade Development Conference & Single Country Exhibition. The exhibition is on November 29 to December 1, 2022, in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Adding to his mention of the PAK-Africa Trade conference, he invited Zimbabwean businesses to play a central role in it. The minister also mentioned his hopes for Zimbabwe’s business community to “Actively participate in the exhibition. Which ultimately would step forward in exchanging of business delegations and establishment of joint working groups on trade and trade agreements”.

Ambassador Lt Gen (Retd) Martin Chedondo was a positive one. He said that the relations between the two countries are historic and that Pakistan stood with them since their independence. He agreed with Mr. Qamar’s statements and urged for an increase in interactions between business communities on both sides.

Chedondo also said that Zimbabwe would provide full support in the upcoming Pakistan-Africa Trade Development Conference. Towards the end of the meeting, the two agreed upon boosting trade in sectors such as agricultural, mining and machinery. At the end of his speech, Lt Gen Chedondo also condoled those affected by the recent floods.
