Pakistan to adopt modern AI – IT minister said at Pakistan’s first AI Summit

The world is advancing in AI technology and Pakistan is ready to follow modern trends. Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui expressed his dedication at Pakistan’s first Artificial Intelligence Summit 2019.

Khalid Maqbool said “Artificial Intelligence is the future of the world and Pakistan has to adopt modern trends of artificial intelligence to compete globally.” according to the Associated Press of Pakistan(APP).

Pakistan’s first AI Summit took place at a hotel in Islamabad and Federal Minister participated as the chief guest of the event. He mentioned that artificial intelligence is considered as the most reliable technology in today’s world.

Speeches from many note able people were also part of the event, many experts said that Pakistan was one of the top ten countries which adopted AI but it is lagging in the advancement in this field.

The panelists added, “Artificial intelligence is the future of the world and Pakistan has to adopt modern trends of artificial intelligence to compete globally.”

The world has done a great progress in AI, by using it for predicting the future of businesses and other things. The idea of building AI robots is not new and it is been proven very helpful. But the people are also afraid at the same time, that such technology can take over this world in the future. Co-founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates said: “AI-based robots will send mankind to long vacations.”

Artificial Intelligence-based robots can also be useful. As the panelists said in the event, that: “A robotic-dog may be good addition which follows one’s instructions.”

Pakistan is on the right track for the advancement in AI technology but it is very much slow as compare to the world. In an attempt to boost the trend of AI and robotics in the province the provincial government of Sindh announced earlier that they are planning to set up a center of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and Blockchain at IBA University in Sukkur. They also allocated for the Rs. 3.0 billion in its budget for FY 2019-20.
