Early in 2025, the Pakistani government will unveil its first Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy, with an emphasis on strengthening cybersecurity and the country’s digital economy.
The goal of the policy is to make Pakistan a “Digital Pakistan” by using AI to monitor the internet for suspicious activity and take immediate action to stop data breaches and secure private information.
At the “Cyber Threat Intelligence 2024” conference, senior IT official Syed Junaid Imam from the Ministry of Information Technology brought attention to this project. It is likely that Pakistan’s first AI strategy will be unveiled within the next several months. His statement highlighted the government’s dedication to protecting the nation’s cyberspace and its emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI) for cybersecurity.
With its new artificial intelligence policy and continuing investments in digital public infrastructure, Pakistan has a chance to move up the Global Cybersecurity Index rankings to the top ten or fifteen. To further, Imam said that the nation has progressed to the point where it is now in the top 40 worldwide.
Additionally, the government is forming Computer/Cyber Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) for specific areas, such as banking, education, and telecommunications. Pakistan is striving to establish a safe digital economy and a society that is digitally transformed through partnerships between businesses, universities, and the government.
