Pakistan Navy conducts successful test of naval cruise missile

On January 03, Pakistan Navy announced that it has successfully test-fired surface-to-surface anti-ship missile.

The anti-ship cruise missile (ASCM) was named as “Harba”. Harba was launched by Pakistan Navy newly commissioned fast attack craft (FAC), Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Himmat in the North Arabian Sea.

“[PNS Himmat] fired indigenously developed Harba Naval Cruise Missile, which is a surface-to-surface anti-ship missile with Land Attack capability,” said the Pakistan Navy.

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi was present onboard Pakistan Navy Ship “Alamgir” and witnessed the missile launch. The missile accurately achieved its target.

The missile is equipped with advanced technology and avionics, which enable engagement of targets at sea as well as on land with a high degree of accuracy.

Once again, the successful test of the cruise missile has demonstrated the control of firepower and the weaponry tech advancement in Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi said the Pakistan Navy will ensure the defense of the country’s shores and interests. He also expressed his satisfaction on the operational preparations of the naval fleet. He emphasized the need to capitalize on indigenous defense capabilities and reduce reliance on foreign countries.

The Admiral Abbassi also appreciated the efforts of all those involved in achieving this significant milestone successfully.

The existence of the Harba ASCM was announced by the previous Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral (retired) Muhammad Zakaullah in his farewell speech in last year.
