Pakistan may suffer in upcoming elections 2018-19, Mark Zuckerberg

Facebook Chief Executive, Mark Zuckerberg is concerned that fake accounts on Facebook may influence upcoming elections in Pakistan. He has expressed fear of bogus accounts that may disturb the transparency of electoral process.

While responding to lawmakers in his formal congressional appearance regarding the breach of around 87 million Facebook users data by Cambridge Analytica, Zuckerberg indicated that after the Presidential elections held in the USA in 2016, the top priority of the social media company was to protect the integrity of upcoming elections in Brazil, India, Pakistan and other countries. According to Zuckerberg, Facebook will make sure to do everything in their power to protect the integrity of these elections.

Zuckerberg has also assured that Facebook will identify and remove the fake accounts seeking to interfere in elections and spread misinformation. He further said that the social network is deploying artificial intelligence tools to identify these bogus accounts and revealed that Facebook will be hiring over 20,000 new employees to ensure security and personal privacy.

During his appearance before Congress, Mark apologized over the hijacking of its user data by the British political data analytics firm. The scandal hit the headlines and Facebook on March 17, with the company facing a loss over $70 billion in the market in just ten days.
