Pakistan, Iran agree to share academic and scientific resources

As part of an agreement on cooperation in Sciences and Technology, Pakistan and Iran have agreed to share their technical, and academic resources with each other.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Pakistan’s Academy of Sciences (PAS) and Iran’s Regional Center for Information Science and Technology (RICeST) in Tehran. Mohammad Khani, the Director of Public Relations at RICeST, termed the agreement to be pivotal in strengthening the mutual cooperation in Sciences and Technologies, between the two signatories.

The MoU will foster sharing of scientific resources including but not limited to research papers, thesis, scientific magazines, resource books, technical dissertations, scientific databases, general articles, topical articles, and academic libraries etc.

Through the agreement, Pakistani professors, research bodies, and students will be able to access the scientific resources available with RICeST including precious Persian and Arabic papers. They will also have the access to the RICeST scientific databases, through PAS.

Muhammad Khani, on the occasion, said, “Establishing electronic communications in order to receive and send internal and regional information in the fields of sciences and technology is among the main missions of the RICeSt”.

The world still acknowledges the works of famous Persian scientists like Abu Hanifa, Avicenna, Biruni, and Farabi (Pharabius). Still, researchers from all over the globe struggle to find out precious manuscripts of these scholars mainly in the fields of physiology, and astrology.
