Pakistan grants e-visas to over 7,000 applicants via its online visa facility

The National Database and Registration Authority, Pakistan (NADRA) has said that over 7,000 Pakistanis have been granted e-visas from the authorities through the online visa facility launched on the instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

According to NADRA, the authorities received a total of 9,931 applications for visa, from which 7,160 people were issued e-visas. Out of the remaining applicants, NADRA is reviewing the forms of 2,446 applicants, while it had rejected 325 applications due to some technical reasons.

The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that e-visa policy will prove to be fruitful for promoting tourism as well as economic diplomacy in the country. He further added, “The policy has started to bear fruits already. People are looking to come to Pakistan for tourism, business, and education, and we hope the policy sets the foundation stone for a stable economy”.

A few months ago in order to boost tourism in Pakistan and to attract foreign investments, PM Imran Khan launched the new online visa system for foreign visitors all across the world. Through this system, Pakistan will grant three-month e-visas to foreigners in 175 countries within a processing time of 7-10 working days.

Former Information Minister Fawad Ch also gave his remarks regarding the e-visa facility launch and said that “The government has opened Pakistan to boost tourism in the country. People from 98 countries can take advantage of the business visa facility”. The minister also said that to get a journalist visa in Pakistan will be made easy, and tourists who will come to Pakistan can also avail the visa on arrival facility.

As the technology moves forward it is important to provide the tourist with the latest tech facilities in order to encourage them to visit Pakistan. This will in-return boost revenue generation in Pakistan and will drive the country’s economy in a positive direction.
