Pakistan has inaugurated its first ever Cyber Security Centre at Air University, Islamabad to protect the country’s cyberspace, economy, and infrastructure from cyber attacks.
Today, Federal Minister for Interior Ahsan Iqbal has inaugurated Pakistan’s first-ever “National Centre for Cyber Security” (NCCS) at Air University, Islamabad. Cybersecurity represents a set of technologies and processes designed to protect systems and networks from cyber attacks (an attempt by hackers to destroy a computer, network or a system). Effective cybersecurity measures reduce the risk of cyber attacks.
The National Center will constitute of renowned labs at different universities of Pakistan including Air University Islamabad, Bahria University Islamabad, National University of Science and Technology (NUST), Information Technology University Lahore (ITU), Lahore University of Managment Sciences (LUMS), University of Peshawar, University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar, University of Nowshera, Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS), NED University Karachi, University of Engineering and Technology Lahore and University of Engineering and Technology Taxila. The headquarter of the NCCS will be based at Air University Islamabad.
To increase the awareness and knowledge about cybersecurity in Pakistani students, Air University is commencing a four year BS cybersecurity program which is designed to develop modern cyber security skills and apply them to manage computers, systems, and networks from cyber attacks.
