The official complaint registry application from the Pakistani government has clinched the title of the second best government application from around the globe.
Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, has announced that the Pakistani government application has caught global attention at the World Government Summit which recently concluded in Dubai. The announcement, which was made through the official Twitter handle of the premier, states that more than 4 thousand government applications from 87 countries were showcased at the global show, and the Pakistan Citizen Portal was declared as the second best application by the judges.
Qlue Smart City, an application from Indonesia, clinched the first spot, while NYC 311, an application from the USA, stood third. The criterion on which the decisions were made hasn’t yet been known.
Qlue Smart City application is a social media application for citizens where the citizens can post their queries. The queries which also get geo-tagged are then tended to by the relevant government departments. NYC 311, on the other hand, enables users to have access to government services and resources through a touch of their finger.
The Pakistan Citizen Portal application was developed without any cost by a team from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the government actually went on to use it as a medium to register public queries. The application has a rating of 4.5 on the Google Play Store and has remained on the top in the app store listing.
The premier further mentioned that it had happened for the first time in the history of Pakistan that a government application was able to receive such acclaim. The applications and websites of the government departments have a tendency to have outdated data and design. But now, the platforms being developed by the government are increasingly getting more sophisticated.
