For this year’s celebrations of Pakistan Day, a video game has been launched by Pakistan Army called The Glorious Resolve. The game is currently available for Android phones and can be downloaded here. It will also be launched for iOS and desktop platforms in the coming days.
According to the official announcement of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the gameplay comprises of highly realistic terrain and weaponry. The game allows the players to partake in a series of missions consisting of major battles against terrorists. These missions mirror the anti-terrorism operations executed by Pakistani armed forces and law enforcement agencies. One such operation referred here is Operation Peochar that was launched in 2009. The gameplay is soon to have more operations added to the current series of missions.
The gameplay provides two roles of an SSG Commando or a Cobra Pilot to the players. Selecting either one of them, the players can embark on a mission to eradicate the terrorists and uproot the menace of terrorism. The name of the game has been borrowed from a 2011 documentary made by ISPR to highlight the resolve of two soldiers who fought bravely in South Waziristan despite being heavily outnumbered.
Google Play does not show the actual number of downloads, but it is indicating that the game has been downloaded between 5000 – 10000 times. The Glorious Resolve has received a rating of 4.8 with favorable reviews appreciating the graphics, gameplay and user experience. However, players have been pointing out that game controls need to be improved.
ISPR has also shared some snapshots of the game that highlight the gameplay of an SSG Commando and a Cobra Pilot.
