Pakistan and China come in agreement of developing E-corridor

Enhancing the importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the two countries have stepped forward in agreement to develop an e-corridor for greater connectivity.

The agreement was established in a high level meeting of the Chinese delegation led by Chairman of Investment Promotion Centre China, Yan Lijin, with Pakistan’s State Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications Anousha Rehman.

The Chinese minister put out a word of praise for Pakistan’s IT and Telecommunication sector and remarked the ministry of IT for their countless efforts. Highlighting the importance of this collaboration, Ms. Anousha Rehman stated:

“We believe in a ‘Digital Pakistan’ and Chinese cooperation and collaboration will help us materialize this vision of accelerated digitization. We are starting the ‘Tech-City’ project on January 7 next year. It is an incubation project meant for the training of young entrepreneurs. Likewise, we intend also to establish a research and innovation centre of international standards. We would also like to invite international companies to establish their setups here in Pakistan.

The IT & Telecom ministry is already collaborating for the development of an ‘e-commerce gateway framework’. This gateway will be paving opportunities for online commercial ventures which could flourish their business and market share to extended customer base, foreign consumers and online businesses could gain added confidence in wireless payment systems.

The attending delegates appreciated this vision of the government and hailed initiatives being taken by the Ministry of IT for uplifting the sector and they agreed to exert with the Pakistan government in establishing IT parks on the ministry’s land in Karachi.
