Pakistan’s 3G/4G subscriber base keeps getting bigger!
According to new figures released by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), 3G/4G users in the country are now close to the 45 million mark. By the end of August, last month, the total 3G/4G users were 44.49 million, up from 42.99 million by the end of July. This is an over 10 million increment as 3G/4G users were at the 32 million mark in July 2016.
Moreover, the total number of mobile phone users did not see that big of an increase. The number hit 139.97 million by August end, slightly up from July’s 139.781 million mobile users.
In terms of telcos, the Jazz and Warid duo saw the most number of 3G subscribers, which were over a million up from July’s 12.533 million to 13.191 million in August. Their 4G users increased by 22% from the month before to 1.2 million by August end.
Zong saw a 0.9% increase in its 3G users which stood at 8.77 million, while the 4G subscribers increased by 3.4% to 4.5 million by August end. Telenor did not see a huge increase either as its 3G subscribers increased slightly from 10.53 million at July end to 10.56 million at the end of August. While their 4G users increased over 14% to 849,139 by August end.
Ufone, the only network who doesn’t offer 4G yet, reported an increase of 148,075 users to its 3G subscriber base and reached 5.298 million users by the end of August.
