In a recent visit to Multan’s Cotton Research Station, the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong said that China will help in establishing a research laboratory for biotechnology. The aim of establishing this laboratory is to strengthen the agricultural sector of Pakistan. The Ambassador was of the view that this joint venture would create opportunities for joint research and advance cooperation between the scientists of both countries.
As part of visits to multiple locations in Multan and Muzafargarh (including a power plant being built with Chinese assistance), the Chinese Ambassador visited the Cotton Research station in Multan. There the station Director, Dr. Sagher briefed the Ambassador’s delegation about the research being conducted at the station.

Mr. Weidong also said that China will continue to assist Pakistan in different areas such as power, infrastructure, agriculture, science and technology.
Earlier in June, a delegation from Lanzhou University led by its Director of Science and Technology department, had visited National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC) in Islamabad. NARC is Pakistan Agricultural Research Council, PARC’s largest research centre. The purpose of the visit was to discuss the establishment of a research centre for Ecological Cycle Agriculture. The President of Lanzhou University is set to visit Pakistan in September for detailed discussions regarding the collaborative effort.
