Paint isn’t going anywhere, Microsoft sets the record straight

Yesterday news broke out that Microsoft is planning on killing Paint, the iconic graphics editing application we all grew up with. This resulted in an out pour of sadness on social media. However, it turns out now that Microsoft won’t be making Paint extinct any time soon. It’s just headed to the Windows Store where users will be able to download it for free.

Microsoft, in a support document released yesterday, announced the list of apps that won’t be making the cut in the Fall Creators Update of Windows 10. However, now the tech giant is setting the record straight and is letting MS Paint fans know that the app isn’t going anywhere. A statement made on the Windows blog said:

“Today, we’ve seen an incredible outpouring of support and nostalgia around MS Paint. If there’s anything we learned, it’s that after 32 years, MS Paint has a lot of fans. It’s been amazing to see so much love for our trusty old app. Amidst today’s commentary around MS Paint we wanted to take this opportunity to set the record straight, clear up some confusion and share some good news: MS Paint is here to stay, it will just have a new home soon, in the Windows Store where it will be available for free.”

So if you’ve been a devotee of Paint you can rejoice now for Paint is here to stay. Microsoft will just be removing it from the default apps that will come with the upcoming update of Windows 10. But you can always go to the Windows Store and download Paint, our reliable, yet infuriating, partner in art projects since childhood!
