Owais Afaq Akhter, a Pakistani technology entrepreneur, has made it to Payoneer’s list of Entrepreneurs of the Year 2016.
Payoneer is a financial services business that provides online money transfer and e-commerce payment services. In honor of their 10-year anniversary, they started some cool initiatives which include a video contest, an anniversary tour and the Payoneer Predictor. One of these is the ‘Entrepreneurs of the Year’ list.
The main purpose of this list is to celebrate the work of highly talented individuals who are paving their own roads and making a mark in this world. For this purpose, Payoneer asked people to submit their success stories and from all those entries 10 individuals were selected. These people will be given a grant of $1000 which they can use towards growing their business or developing their own entrepreneurial skills.
The list includes people from India, Bangladesh, Argentina, Siberia, Philippines, Egypt, Vietnam, Ukraine and Indonesia. Among these people is a man from Pakistan. Owais Afaq Akhter is the CEO of Alpos Innovations – a multi-national software firm that provides solutions in Website Design and Development, Mobile Application, Branding and Animation. Speaking about his success story and what Payoneers Entrepreneurship Awards means to him,he said:
“If I would be awarded Entrepreneur of the Year, I will use the awarded money to create and build an intra-company entrepreneurship space fund in Aplos Innovations, to fuel our idea of Startup-Tuesday. Startup-Tuesday is an idea we initiated to revitalize entrepreneurial spirit in our employees by giving them little more time outside their job hours where they work on their dream.”
