According to a report by Ross Young of DSCC (Display Supply Chain Consultants), it appears that Samsung Display will again be in the driver’s seat when it comes to the distribution of panels for iPhones.
GSM Arena states that information obtained from Apple reveals that the business purchased 82% of its panels from Samsung, 14% from the Korean company LG Display, and the remaining 6% from the Chinese BOE.
According to the information provided in the study, the iPhone 14 Pro Max devices would initially solely use screens manufactured by Samsung. However, the company has stated that it will begin selling screens as soon as September. It would appear that LG is having trouble keeping up with the demand and is facing “technical issues.”
On the other end is the Chinese manufacturer BOE, capable of manufacturing in significant volumes. However, Apple has limited the purchases to the iPhone 14 series, with no Pro in sight. Although BOE can manufacture in substantial volumes, Apple has limited the purchases to the iPhone 14 series. According to GSM Arena, Samsung’s proportion is comparable to what it was in the iPhone 13 series when it delivered 83 percent of all panels.
According to the comprehensive data provided by Young, the number of display factory products shipped to assembly plants was 1.85 million in June, 5.35 million in July, over 10 million in August, and over 16.5 million in September. This indicates that Apple plans to have at least 34 million handsets available during the first three months of the iPhone 14’s availability
On September 7, Apple will have its launch event in Cupertino. At this event, it is anticipated that the company will introduce four new iPhone models: the iPhone 14, the iPhone 14 Max, the iPhone 14 Pro, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. According to GSM Arena, it will also be intriguing to see the new A16 chipset, which will only power the Pro variants of the device and any new smartwatches.
