A virtual private network (VPN) allows you to connect to the internet without being monitored. In more technical terms, when you access the internet via a VPN, the information you send and receive on the internet is encrypted and rerouted through different countries to make it difficult to track down. However, the biggest problem with several VPN software is that they are never free. They may be promoted as shareware and even freeware sometimes but there are always certain charges that you have to pay to access the full premium service.
Opera, the famous web browsing platform is looking to come up with a solution to this though. The web browser has added a free VPN to the developer version of its latest release. According to Opera, “Now, you don’t have to download VPN extensions or pay for VPN subscriptions to access blocked websites and to shield your browsing when on public Wi-Fi,”
The Global Web Index statistics shown by Opera ahead of this development claim that over 500 million internet users currently use or have tried to use VPN services. They also claim that this service is the most popular among youngsters. This VPN service that is being provided by the Opera web browser is unlimited and free (at least right now) and can be accessed only in the developer version of the browser. You can find the option for the VPN in the preferences.
Currently, according to StatCounter statistics, Opera is the fifth most used browser in the world as of June 2015. With this offer of free VPN with the web browser, Opera seeks to improve the overall position of its web browser.
