OpenAI introduced a subscription-based version of its widely utilized chatbot, ChatGPT, priced at $200 per month. This shift is designed for application in engineering disciplines and research, as the artificial intelligence company seeks to broaden the industrial applications of its technology.
The newly introduced tier, designated as ChatGPT Pro, will supplement OpenAI’s current subscription offerings, which include ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Enterprise. It highlights the company’s aspirations to enhance the commercialization of its technology, which initiated the artificial intelligence surge.
According to the company, ChatGPT Pro will provide access to the most sophisticated OpenAI tools, including unrestricted access to its latest reasoning models, o1 and o1 mini, as well as GPT-4o and advanced voice capabilities. The subscription additionally encompasses the o1 pro mode, a variant that utilizes enhanced computational resources to address more intricate queries.
Declaring the release of the latest version, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman remarked: “We just launched two things: o1, the smartest model in the world. smarter, faster, and more features (eg multimodality) than o1-preview. live in ChatGPT now, coming to api soon.”
“chatgpt pro. $200/month. unlimited usage and even-smarter mode for using o1. more benefits to come!”, he said.
The o1Pro mode is a variant that utilizes enhanced computational resources to address more intricate queries. OpenAI has stated that the o1 Pro mode demonstrates superior performance on machine learning benchmarks in the domains of mathematics, science, and coding when compared to the o1 and o1-preview versions.
