Only 15-20% ICT graduates are employed, Chairman P@SHA

While stressing upon the need to rightly use the company’s ICT resources, the Chairman P@SHA highlighted that the ratio of employed ICT graduates stands at a meager 15-20% today.

The Chairman P@SHA (Pakistan Association of Software Houses) Naseer A. Akhtar was addressing a ceremony conducted here at the Royal Palm Golf and Country Club, Lahore earlier this week. The ceremony titled, “Technology: A Tool to Convert Potential into Opportunity” was focused at the importance of technology and how it may be used to discover and then harness different opportunities.

At the event which was attended by many high cadre dignitaries from technology arena of Pakistan, Naseer was acting as the keynote speaker.

During the talk, Mr. Naseer gave many astonishing insights around the technology culture of Pakistan. He said that the importance of utilizing big data is now being understood and companies are taking active measures to deploy this technology into their advantage. Adding that the facts as obtained from Big Data if employed in decision making can do wonders, he mentioned that as much as 73% of the international organizations has either already invested into Big Data or they are planning to do so in the near future.

He also went on to describe why the ICT graduates had very little employability as compared to the rest of the global markets. He said that the curricula as followed in technology institutes of Pakistan has already been outdated and it needs to be revised and improved to the needs of today’s industry.
