Fans of OnePlus devices will be treated to a launch of the OnePlus 5 on the 20th of June. The device will be available in various countries around the world almost at the same time. However, instead of retaining the design philosophy of the previous devices, leaked designs of the OnePlus 5 show that it will look very much like the iPhone 7 Plus.
The leaked designs of the device show a lot of similarities between it and the iPhone 7 Plus. For example, the dual cameras on the back are both located at the upper left corner of the device. They also come with a little bump just like in the iPhone 7 Plus.
On both devices, there is a mic right next to the cameras which are followed by a LED flash. OnePlus has even placed the logo at the exact same place as the Apple logo on the iPhone 7 Plus. The leaked device also comes in a matte black color which also has a striking similarity to the Apple device.
The only differences which are notable between both devices right now are the volume and power buttons. Their position on OnePlus 5 has been switched with each other as compared to Apple’s iPhone.
If the OnePlus 5 comes out looking exactly like the leaked designs, it will be interesting to see how Apple will respond to this similarity. Memories of the legal battle between Samsung and Apple over design copyrights is still fresh in our minds.
The device is scheduled to come out on the 20th of June. Given the level of reception previous OnePlus devices have received, this one is expected to do good business too. The device will be unveiled on the same day in following major cities: New York, Paris, Berlin, Copenhagen, London, Amsterdam, Helsinki, Tampere, Oulu, and Turku.
