OnePlus 5 & 5T are facing issues in streaming videos in HD

OnePlus 5T was launched almost a month ago and since then it has been beating all those expensive flagships of other smartphones giants launched earlier in 2017. However, things might be changing onwards as the reviewers have found some issues in the latest flagship of the Chinese manufacturer. Despite its HD-capable display and powerful hardware OnePlus 5T is unable in streaming online videos from Netflix, Amazon Prime, Google Play Movies and such other video services.

Some users of OnePlus 5T have reported on a thread on Reddit that the device lacks support for Widevine Level 1, which helps to configure high definition streams. Both devices OnePlus 5T and its predecessor OnePlus 5 are facing similar kind of issue. Both devices are unable to reach higher than SD resolution.

The OnePlus 5T has a 6-inch display with 1080p resolution. In addition, it is powered by Snapdragon 835 processor, combined with 6GB of RAM, which makes it obvious that the device must support streaming HD videos online. The problem seems to be quite weird, as even some low budget midrange devices of several premium smartphones maker support this feature.

OnePlus has officially responded on the same thread with a promise of update very soon. A company’s representative has said that an update for OnePlus 5T will enable Widevine Level 1 in the device, ignoring the fact that why this happened in a $500 phone. It is still unclear that when the update will be made available, as there is no mention of time.
