OnePlus 3 and 3T gets Android 8.0 Oreo Beta

Google released Android Oreo a couple of months ago. It is already available for Google Pixel and Nexus devices and all other manufacturers are trying their best to bring it to their devices. Android Oreo is installed just on 0.2% devices until now and the number will increase as the manufacturers continue to bring it to their devices.

OnePlus is also putting efforts to bring the Oreo to their devices as soon as possible and have released the Oreo beta for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. The Oreo update is available as a part of the Android beta program that OnePlus offers to some of its users. Those small number of users can enjoy the latest features of Android before anyone else but it comes with a few bugs so only those users should try it who are comfortable with the apps and phone crashes once in a while.

You can install Android Oreo open beta on your OnePlus 3 or 3T by following the instructions on the official website. If you are already enrolled in OnePlus open beta program, you just need to check for new updates in software updates menu and install the update from there.

The OnePlus Oreo beta build has these known issues:

  • Fingerprint actions may be slower than you are used to.
  • Shortcut to access Google Photos is unavailable
  • Some stability issues with NFC and Bluetooth
  • Performance and compatibility of 3rd party apps will continue to be optimized

So only try the beta if you do not mind a few bugs.

The testing will continue for about 2 months and the stable version of Oreo will be launched by the end of this year for both OnePlus 3 and 3T. The update is on its way to OnePlus 5 as well.

It is nice to see that OnePlus is keeping up to its promise after all. The company promised Android Nougat update for OnePlus 2 but did not release the update and left the phone in dark. But this time, the company has finally kept its promise and released the update for their devices after all.
