Office 365 to be rebranded as ‘Microsoft 365’ on April 21st

Microsoft has decided to rebrand their famous Office 365 and call it ‘Microsoft 365’ on the 21st of April 2020.

The company made this announcement on their website yesterday. The name change comes with a whole lot of other changes in their products and services. Microsoft has added a new Microsoft Family Safety application to help parents keep track of their kids and loved one’s screen times and many other computing activities.

The new features include the Microsoft Editor, an all-new AI writing assistant. Editor will be available on Word, Outlook, and as a browser extension. Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscribers will be able to enjoy access to all the advanced grammar corrections, the style refinements, and the all-new plagiarism avoidance mechanism that Microsoft has put into place.

Aside from the Editor, a PowerPoint Presenter Coach has also been added. This tool essentially helps the user rehearse for their presentations and gives real-time feedback on their volume, pitch, and choice of words. It also generates a summary of the quality your presentation at the end and suggests ways for you to make improvements. Various new presentation templates and designs have also been added to Microsoft PowerPoint.

The prices of the packages stay the same: $7 a month for personal use and $10 a month for the family plan ($70 and a $100 a year, respectively) and you still get the same main features like access to the Office desktop applications and 1 TB’s worth of OneDrive storage. Microsoft has, however, enhanced their tools with a stronger AI backing and more cloud computing options. They have capitalised on the current situation and optimised their products for a better stay-at-home learning and working experience.
