Nvidia’s cloud gaming service, GeForce Now, is making a debut for Android smartphones.
Often considered a competitor to Google’s Stadia and Microsoft’s xCloud, Nvidia’s game streaming service GeForce Now will be making its way to Android smartphones. Nvidia announced that the service, which was previously available as a Beta service to PC and Mac devices only, will now roll-out to several compatible Android smartphones including the top-of-the-line smartphones from LG and Samsung. The company didn’t reveal the exact date when it would be launching this service, but it mentioned that the users would be able to use this service in Beta some time ‘later this year.‘
“Just like on PC, Mac and SHIELD TV, when the Android mobile app releases it’ll be in beta. We’ll continue improving and optimizing the experience. To take full advantage of the mobile experience, we’re recommending gaming with a Bluetooth gamepad, such as SHIELD controller, Razer Raiju Mobile, Steelseries Stratus Duo or Glap Gamepad (in Korea), as some games will be unplayable on an Android phone without a gamepad,” the company mentioned in a blogpost.
Nvidia also announced several updates of its streaming service. The new updates which have made it to the Nvidia GeForce Now platform include the addition of RTX servers. Addition of this service means that the games which would be streamed now will be able to benefit from RTX hardware features including raytracing.
Nvidia GeForce Now is a cloud gaming service by the American technology company. Currently, the platform is only available to users on PC, Mac and Shield TV. As of now, the platform supports some over 500 video games which can be streamed to one’s internet-connected device. Nvidia has announced that it would be moving GeForce Now out of Beta in “coming months.“ The users who want to take part in the Nvidia GeForce Now public beta program can do so by signing up on Nvidia’s official website.
