Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 May See a Dramatic Price Jump

Nvidia’s upcoming GeForce RTX 5080, part of the highly anticipated “Blackwell” GPU series, is generating buzz not just for its performance but also for its rumored price tag. Industry whispers suggest this next-generation graphics card could come with a steep cost, setting it apart as one of the most expensive GPUs in Nvidia’s lineup.

According to a leaked listing at an Australian store that a YouTuber called Vex showed us, the GPU could have an MSRP of $1,500 when it comes out. This is a big price increase from the RTX 4080, which came out at $1,199.

Rumored Price Hike

The upcoming Nvidia RTX 5080 is rumored to come with a steep price tag, potentially costing end users up to $1,739. This figure includes the customary “premium tax” often associated with the launch of new GPUs. Compared to the RTX 4080’s launch price of $1,199, the RTX 5080 represents a significant price hike of over $300.

Analysts attribute this increase to Nvidia’s adoption of advanced technologies, including the cutting-edge GDDR7 memory chips and other high-end components, which are driving up production costs. The enhanced features aim to deliver superior performance, but they also come at a premium, making the RTX 5080 one of the more expensive GPUs in Nvidia’s lineup.

The leaked listing specifically highlights the ASUS DUAL model, which features a triple-fan setup for enhanced cooling. Positioned as a mid-range option, it may not include the premium features of the ROG STRIX series but compensates with impressive specifications.

This model boasts 16 GB of GDDR7 VRAM, delivering a remarkable performance of 32 Gbps. In comparison, the RTX 4080, equipped with GDDR6X memory, offers a maximum memory bandwidth of 23 Gbps. This upgrade marks a significant improvement in memory performance, making the ASUS DUAL model a compelling choice for users seeking high efficiency without the premium price tag.

Optimized Performance Features

With the GB203 GPU core at its heart, the next-gen GeForce RTX 5080 is sure to be a performance powerhouse. Among Nvidia’s offerings, it stands out due to its GDDR7 memory, which promises quicker performance and more bandwidth. With its 736 GB/s memory bandwidth, this GPU is going to be a huge step up for computational and gaming activities.

Details on the price of more affordable variants, such as the RTX 5070, are yet unknown, despite the fact that the RTX 5080 seems prepared for enthusiasts.
