November Sees Cellular Subscriptions Fall To 193 238 Million

ISLAMABAD: Data from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) shows that in November 2024, there was a decrease in the number of cellular customers, 3G/4G users, and total penetration in Pakistan.

From October to November, cellular subscribers decreased a little, from 193.309 million to 193.238 million. There was a similar decline in 3G and 4G users from October to November, dropping from 139.123 million to 139.037 million. Between October and November, mobile broadband penetration fell from 57.02 percent to 56.9 percent, and total teledensity fell from 80.3% to 80.1%.

Among the major carriers, Jazz saw a decline in 3G users from October’s 2.087 million to November’s 1.549 million. From 49.861 million to 50.191 million, though, its 4G users increased. While Zong’s 4G user base grew from 38.125 million to 38.300 million, the company’s 3G subscriber base fell slightly from 1.893 million to 1.867 million.

The number of 3G and 4G users on Telenor’s network fell. From October to November, its 3G user base shrank from 1.434 million to 1.388 million, while its 4G user base increased from 25.478 million to 25.428 million. From 2.100 million to 2.047 million, Ufone’s 3G users declined, while 16.433 million to 16.473 million were its 4G subscribers.

In November, the PTA resolved 15,748 complaints out of 15,861 received from telecom users, for a resolution rate of 99 percent. Of all the telecom users, the majority of complaints were directed against Cellular Mobile Operators (CMOs). Resolutions were reached for 15,291 (or 99.5%) of the 15,375 complaints lodged against CMOs.

In terms of individual operators, Jazz handled 6,271 complaints or 99.9 percent. Among the 3,084 complaints received by Telenor, 99.7 percent were resolved by Zong, and 99.3 percent by Ufone.

In November, the PTA resolved 15,748 out of 15,861 complaints received from telecom users, with a resolution rate of 99%. The majority of complaints were against Cellular Mobile Operators (CMOs), and 15,291 (99.5%) of the 15,375 CMO-related complaints were resolved.
