As per the most recent report from Google, Android Marshmallow is still the most widely used Android version today.
As the next Android version is just round the corner, the Nougat growth also appeared to be quite slow for it forms only 13.5% of the total market. Despite the low total, Android Nougat still saw the greatest jump then any other Android version. Of the both Nougat versions, Android Nougat 7.0 had more traction as compared to the Android 7.1. During the last month, the Android Nougat 7.0 rose by 1.7% points to where it is today, 12.3%. While the Android 7.1 had a meager increase of .3% from .9% to 1.2%. The total 13.5% portion as held by Android Nougat was still less than Marshmallow, Lollipop and Android KitKat. It is even less than the Android Marshmallow’s standing from the same time in last year. Last year, Marshmallow was running 18.7% of Android devices, eleven months after it came out.
Talking about the most widely used Android Operating system, Android Marshmallow; it still powered about one Android smartphone out of every 3. With a percentage of 32.3%, Android 6.0 Marshmallow was still able to grow itself despite the availability of newest Android 7.0 and then Android 7.1. Android 6.0 grew by 0.5% from 31.8% to 32.3%.
However, these were the only Android versions which grew. All the rest of Android operating systems saw a decline in their usages. Android 5.1 Lollipop catered to about 21.8% of the market, a 0.5% low from 22.3%. Likewise, Android 5.0 dipped from 7.8% to 7.4% and Android 4.4 KitKat held 16% of the market.
The upcoming Android version, Android 7.0 nears its launch. The operating system was released for Developers earlier this year in March, while it was released in its most authentic form in the fourth and concluding Beta version of the operating system just recently.
