Not everyone will get Windows 10 on July 29

Reservations for Windows 10 began in June, and if you’ve reserved your copy, you may have been one of the many millions who did so. With less than a month before Windows 10 is officially released, Microsoft has announced via a blog post that they plan to roll out upgrades to users in waves rather than releasing it all at once. So if you were hoping to upgrade to Windows 10 on July 29, you’ll have to wait a little more.

Windows Insiders, who participated in the early testing of Windows 10, will be the ones getting it on the launch day for beta testing. After that people who have already reserved a copy for themselves will be allowed to upgrade their OS. Once the rollouts begin Windows 10 will be downloaded automatically on your PC. This seems like a smooth update process but a slight disappointment for those who were hoping to jump right in. Microsoft has, however, not announced when Windows 10 will be available to everyone else.

Apparently due to the large number of people who registered for Windows 10, Microsoft is taking things slow. This phased rollout may seem like a bummer, but is actually a good thing for it allows Microsoft to track and fix any issues and bugs that arise while Windows Insiders are using it.

Window’s 10 Pro will also be available after July 29, while the Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Education will roll out after August 1.
