HMD Global, the parent company behind Nokia, has reassured its users that all of its current smartphones will be receiving regular Android updates, at least to Android P.
While attending to a product launch event held in Phillipines this Friday, the company said that it will be rolling out regular updates to all of its smartphones. The smartphones that were revealed after HMD took-over the manufacturing unit of Nokia-branded handsets will be getting updates, patches and support for Android. The company officials further stated that the roll-out will continue to Android P, which has yet to be unveiled by Google.
In another news, the CTO at HMD Global, Mikko Jaakkola, took to his official Twitter handle mentioning that the company will also be releasing unlocked boot-loaders to all of its recently introduced smartphones.
The smartphones which will be getting the said updates include the Nokia 8, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. The entry-level Nokia-branded smartphone, Nokia 3 will also be getting these updates. Nokia is also expected to release Nokia 2 and Nokia 9 smartphones, the updates will presumably roll to these upcoming smartphones too.
After introducing Android O, Google has started to work on the development of Android P. Android P is expected to be unveiled by Google either in the late first quarter, or in the second quarter of the next month.
