Nokia Takes Legal Action Against Oppo

In recent news, Nokia is officially suing Oppo with multiple lawsuits due to the continuous usage of Nokia’s patents for its smartphones. These patents include connectivity, interface, and security features.

This all started when both companies signed a licensing agreement in 2018 and instead of renewing the contract, Oppo started utilizing both SEP and non-SEP patents which forced Nokia to file multiple patent infringement lawsuits against Oppo.

Despite the lawsuits, Nokia still believes there is a more constructive way to deal with the current situation. According to Nokia:
“We have been negotiating the renewal of our patent licensing agreement with Oppo but unfortunately they have rejected our fair and reasonable offers. Litigation is always our last resort and we have offered to enter into independent and neutral arbitration to amicably resolve the matter. We still believe this would be the most constructive way forward.”

However, it isn’t just Oppo that signed an agreement with Nokia long ago but currently, companies such as Samsung, Apple, Lenovo, and Blackberry signed a similar deal with Nokia.
