Nokia beats HTC, Sony and OnePlus in Q4 2017 smartphones sales

Nokia is now the world’s 11th largest smartphone maker.

Looks like the dominance of Nokia in the mobile industry again, is not far from happening. With its 1% market share, Nokia is falling just out of the list of top 10 smartphones vendors in the world. HMD has sold 4.4 million Nokia’s Android-based smartphones in Q4 2017 to claim the 11th rank among top smartphone vendors across the globe. As of now, according to CounterPoint Research, this resulted in the rise of Nokia as a bigger smartphone brand than HTC, Sony, Google, OnePlus, Lenovo and many others.

Meanwhile, CounterPoint research has also added some words of advice for HMD to finetune their strategy and focus on customers in Asia, Europe, and MEA. For success in LATAM markets, HMD certainly needs to build relationships with operators.

Nokia’s smartphone shipments numbers reached 8.7 million in 2017 all thanks to HMD which is developing Android-based Nokia smartphones with amazing features and adequate price range. With HMD expecting to release a number of compelling smartphones like Nokia 6 2018, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 9 and low-end phones like Nokia 1 in March-April globally we can expect a real boost to the shipment volumes further.

Nokia featurephone sales numbers have increased as well. The company took the top spot in Q4 with 20.7 million units sold. While keeping in view, the total phone market (smart + feature phones), HMD Global is now deemed in 6th place, with a 5% share of the overall market.
