HMD has officially announced the entry-level Nokia 2. The phone has been leaked several times before and it was also rumored to launch today and the rumor turned out to be true.
Nokia 2 comes with a huge, 4,100 mAh battery and Nokia promises a 2-day battery on a single charge. It comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 212 chipset which is, of course, an entry-level chipset. The chipset offers LTE connectivity with an entry-level price tag. The chipset has a Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 CPU and Adreno 304 GPU.
The phone comes with 1 GB RAM which is less even for an entry-level phone. But Google is making its platform more resource friendly by optimizing it under Android Go project. So we can expect a better performance even from a 1GB RAM phone. The internal storage is 8 GB which is further expandable by a Micro SD card. The phone runs Android Nougat out of the box and Nokia promises the Android 8.0 Oreo update soon. It is amazing to see an entry-level phone getting a major update to the next version of Android.
It comes with a 5.0 inch LTPS IPS LCD display with 1280 x 720 resolution. And of course, the display is not bezel-less. It comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Nokia 2 comes with an 8 MP primary camera and a 5 MP front camera. The primary camera can record 720p videos and comes with a LED flash. There is no confirmation if the front camera can also record 720p video. However, the phone can play 1080p videos if transferred from a PC or any other mobile phone. The phone has a plastic front, aluminum frame and polycarbonate back.
The phone comes in copper, black, and white and costs €99. It will be launched in mid-November.
