Haroon Akhtar Khan, the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Revenue said in a meeting with CEOs and other high-level representatives of telecom companies working in Pakistan in Islamabad that there will be no additional tax to be imposed on telecom sector as the government of Pakistan wants growth of this sector.
There were many issues discussed in the meeting including the proposals for Budget 2017-18, industrial undertaking for the telecom industry, Withholding Tax issues, sales tax exemption on import, federal excise duty as well as Taxation issues of the telecom industry.
The meeting had all the officials of telecom sector such as Naveed Khalid Butt VP Corporate Affairs Ufone, Irfan Waheed Khan, CEO Telenor, Syed Naveed Akhtar, Executive Director Finance Operations Zong, Ali Naseer, Chief CRA Jazz etc.
Haroon Akhtar Khan also said,
“We want this industry to flourish so that the people of Pakistan get better and better services at their doorstep,”
Representing on behalf of FBR, Chairman FBR Tariq Mahmood Pasha, Member Custom Zahid Khokar, Member IR Policy Dr.Mohammad Iqbal and other officers also took part in the meeting.
Haroon Akhtar Khan assured the members of the meeting that the government of Pakistan wants the growth of this industry as this sector has great ability to grow.
