Next generation iPhone X models may feature two-cell battery and 4GB RAM

The second generation iPhone X might also bring its elder brother alongside.

The sea of words about Apple’s tenth-anniversary smartphone iPhone X has already been on the high tides, yet the Cupertino based company is again rumored to be launching not one, not two, but three smartphones in 2018. A slightly lower priced 6.1-inch iPhone has already been suggested but the new report hints towards another second-generation regular iPhone X size flagship and a larger 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus.

According to a report by Ming-chi Kuo of KGI Securities, the new iPhone X, iPhone X Plus, and lower-priced 6.1-inch iPhone expected later this year. Kuo has been highly regarded for his analysis and forecasts for upcoming Apple products and he is resourceful. The report not only highlights the names and time frame of the launch of the three expected models but also reveals various upgrades in features.

The 6.1-inch iPhone is going to be a weird smartphone in a way. First of all, its size is going to be larger than regular iPhone X and smaller than the new iPhone X Plus. Secondly, the smartphone will have only one main camera instead of the iPhone X’s two. And finally, it will be using an LCD screen instead of OLED.

As for the 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus, Kuo believes that Apple will increase the battery to a two-cell L-shaped one, increasing the capacity by 10%, which is (3,400 mAh) already 25% higher than the iPhone X. Other than this and the larger size, there might not be much that will differentiate the iPhone X Plus from the 2018 iPhone X. Both iPhone X models will have 4GB of RAM while the 6.1-inch iPhone will feature a 3GB of RAM.

Concludingly, the 2018 iPhone Xs are getting minor upgrades to last year’s models. Not so different from the Samsung Galaxy S9’s theme this year. On the one hand, Apple might be thinking there’s not much to improve on an already perfect formula. Meanwhile, iPhone SE 2 has also been rumored to be arriving in March.
