New Samsung Galaxy M40 update brings improvements to camera and facial recognition

The Samsung Galaxy M40 has already made an impression by being one of the most competitive midrange smartphones in the market, coming in at PKR 45,000 with the Infinity-O punch-hole display, a set of triple rear cameras and a Snapdragon 675 chipset for improved performance. The device’s most recent update, however, does more to improve a couple of its salient features thereby delivering more value to the consumer.

The firmware version for this new update is M405FDDU1ASG2, and it also consists of the June 2019 Android Security Patch. With a size of 378.40MB, the update is rolling out to all users, and in case you haven’t received the notification on your Galaxy M40, you can check manually by heading over to Settings to see if it’s here yet.

As far as the improvements and additions brought by this update are concerned, there is enough to please Galaxy M40 users. A new blue light filter has been introduced, according to Sammobile. The changelog adds that the new update brings the June 2019 security patch, improvements in facial recognition performance and enhancement of the camera performance as well.

With a tripe rear camera arrangement that consists of a 32MP primary sensor with AI scene optimizer and an aperture of f/1.7 and a front camera worth 16MP, it is interesting to see that the company is choosing to further boost the performance of a system that is already one of the highlights of this device. It suggests that the plan is to flaunt the Galaxy M40’s camera technology as its biggest selling point.

Finally, the usual stability improvements and bug fixes are also a part of the update. It is worth noting that it is being rolled in a gradual manner therefore it might be some time before you get it on your Galaxy M40.
