The National Incubation Center (NIC), Pakistan’s premier state of the art technology center, has last week announced its 5th batch of startup incubation program.
Over 700 startups competed for a 6 month entrepreneurship program at the NIC, out of the 120 shortlisted, 26 innovative startups working in diverse fields of Fin-Tech, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), Ed-Tech, Health and Welfare, Agriculture, Augmented and Virtual reality and ecommerce, Big Data have been accepted.
Many of the start-up founders in the fifth cohort are led by women entrepreneurs and interestingly the incubation center has been able to attract a good diverse and inclusive cohort with representation of startup founders from cities outside Islamabad and Rawalpindi, including but not limited to Sialkot, Swabi, Waziristan, Charsadda and Mardan.

Plantiza aims to create an online market place for plants. The core idea is to create a digital market place for space owners to explore wide range of plants with respective availability/pricing, engage skilled services and select plants with huge health benefits.
Pharma Trax has created a one stop solution for tracking, tracing and verifying the pharmaceutical products.
Team PakStockPhoto is creating Pakistan’s version of shutter stock giving the creative world an access to affordable and high quality stock images related to Pakistan
Legalight is a legal services website that provides access to a variety of legal assistance and connects customers with attorneys.
Snapthat is trying to solve that problem by building a search platform focused on fashion clothing. It will be an AI powered search engine coupled with a personalized experience for fashion consumers.
Greenovation.pk is another promising social impact startup working to achieve one of the major SDG goals. Their idea is to convert plastic waste into LPG and provide clean and affordable fuel to small industries.
Geothermal cooling is combating the Global warming and climate change with their innovative technique. The team have developed an indigenous low cost mechanism for utilizing the cooler temperature underground and hence decreasing the air conditioning cost.
