MWC 2019: Nokia refreshes its entire range with 4 new smartphones

As the Mobile World Congress 2019 takes place in Barcelona, Nokia has unveiled 4 new smartphones that upgrade its entire range of offering.

HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, has announced four new Android smartphones, including the world’s first smartphone with a five camera array, the Nokia 9 PureView. The other smartphones that were unveiled include high-tier Nokia 4.2, middle high-tier Nokia 3.2, entry-level Nokia 1 Plus and a more affordable feature phone Nokia 210.

This time around Nokia has also focused on getting the Android Enterprise Recommended program to its smartphones from Nokia 9 PureView to Nokia 3.2. The smartphones are recommended by Google for meeting objective business standards and abide by a set of specifications for hardware, software, deployment, security updates, and user experience.

Florian Seiche, Chief Executive Officer, HMD Global said, “Today, with these new phones, we are taking a leap forward by delivering the very latest innovations from Google across our entire portfolio.” While talking on the software-aging problem as faced by different Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer, HMD Global said: “..And all this comes with all the craftsmanship and durability you’d expect from a Nokia smartphone. And with our Android promise delivering a pure, secure and up-to-date experience, we ensure that your phone gets better over time.”

1. Nokia 4.2

The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 chipset and runs on Android 9 Pie. Nokia has introduced a dedicated Bixby-like Google Assistant button which can be used for different purposes. Users would be able to single tap on the button to launch the Assistant, double tap for a visual overview of your day and long press to go into a ‘walkie-talkie’ mode. Nokia 4.2 has a 5.71-inch of HD display that has 19:9 of aspect ratio. The smartphone has a dual camera set up at the back with a primary 13-megapixel sensor and a secondary 2-megapixel for sensing the depth.

2. Nokia 3.2

Nokia 3.2 is a midrange smartphone that comes with a 6.26-inch of 19:9 aspect ratio and an HD+ display. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 429 mobile platform, the smartphone would come with either 2GB or 3GB of RAM and a 4,000-mAh battery. Nokia 3.2 also comes with a dedicated Google Assistant button. The smartphone would be available in Pakistan for a retail price of PKR 27,000, starting May.

3. Nokia 1 Plus

Nokia 1 Plus, is an entry-level smartphone from the Finnish company. Powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM, the smartphone comes with Android 9 Pie (Go edition), enabling users to get their hands on the latest Android (Go edition) features like Google Assistant Go. The smartphone has a 5.45-inch of IPS display with 18:9 of aspect ratio and 2,500 mAh of battery. The smartphone Nokia 1 Plus will be available in Pakistan from March for a retail price of PKR 15,300.

4. Nokia 210

The newest feature phone from the smartphone giant is a Nokia 210 mobile. The devices boast internet connectivity and come in a durable polycarbonate shell which is designed to hide the marks of everyday life. Nokia 210 will be available in Pakistan for a retail price of PKR 5,500, starting March.

Along with the smartphones and feature phones, the company also unveiled two wireless charging solutions a standard Wireless Charger and a more portable Nokia Portable Wireless Charging solution. The standard Nokia Wireless Charger supports fast 10-watt wireless charging while the Nokia Portable Wireless Charger is more like a power bank that can support wireless charging along with a universal USB output. Both devices support the universal Qi charging standard, and will work with compatible wireless charging devices like the Nokia 9 PureView and Nokia 8 Sirocco.
