Motorway Police has launched the No More Violations initiative by involving modern technology in traffic surveillance

The National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) has launched a new program that aims to provide strict regulation of traffic rules for the public. This program is called the “No More Violations initiative” which involves modern technology for traffic surveillance of international standards. In a meeting with NHMP officials which was held in Khanewal on Wednesday, Sector Commander beat No.22 Atif Chaudhry checked the ongoing surveillance campaign and asked officials to continue performing duties with dedication on motorways.

He said service;

“Using state-of-the-art equipment such as spotters, the latest speed-checking cameras, surveillance drones, and body-worn cameras are operational to monitor the violations to keep traffic operations smooth.” The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) officials said that providing the best services to the public on Motorways had been the top priority of the Motorway police.

While chairing the operational meeting of the Hazara Expressway E-35, Sector Office Mansehra, Yousuf was briefed by officers on different matters to which the Zonal Commander gave a few orders and termed the overall performance of Motorway Police as satisfactory. “Providing quality services to the public traveling on Motorways is the top priority of NHMP which will further be improved,” said DIG Motorway North Zone, Muhammad Yusuf Malik in a statement issued here.

Previously the Lahore Motorway police have taken other initiatives like, the Zonal Commander said service to the public while traveling on the motorway had always been the distinguishing feature of the motorway police. He was of the view that more and more people should be made aware of traffic rules and all resources must be used to prevent accidents. Top performing officers would also be encouraged on monthly basis, he said.

The initiative is a part of a 5-year vision that includes the drive to modernize the National Highways and Motorways Police. It also includes other measures, such as enforcing speed limits, reviewing the existing traffic laws, and reforming the motorway personnel to adhere to the global motorway police best practices.

The Motorways in Pakistan continue to suffer from a lack of technologically sound equipment, training, and facilities essential to supervise the vast network of roads connecting various Pakistan cities.

According to the news report, “The system will be in place in a couple of weeks with the use of drone technology displayed at few points on the motorways. Pakistan will become the first country in the region to employ drone technology to supervise the highways and motorways network.”
